Very often, minority groups are unwilling to speak out against their most strident members, even when they are clearly over the top. This makes it nice to find a niche podcast which does just that for a particular community (in this case, the gay community). It includes both commentary on gay activists who go to extremes and examples of more reasoned, rational arguments which support gay rights.
So far, discussions which draw on the feminist community and those which seek to make parallels within the civil rights movement were very well thought out. The only concern I have to this point was that the episode which dealt with biblical references to homosexuality chose portions of Leviticus dealing with dietary strictures and circumcision as examples of irrelevant biblical injunctions. (I actually started to write an e-mail explaining why these were ill-chosen, and potentially offensive, examples, but my cat closed it, which I took to be a sign).
The episodes are short and sweet, the music is pleasant, and the ideas are thought provoking. Definitely worth checking out.

I listened to this some time ago, but the presentation is still fresh in my mind.
The story is certainly a 'period piece', worth listening to as a story and as an example of 'the past through the future'. Scott's presentation, as always, is enjoyable and memorable. It's a good listen.

Unfortunately, there isn't a large body of this podcast to review yet, only one episode in the feed so far, but the show is interesting and worth looking into.
The largest problem with the 'cast is it's length - the episode is barely a snippet. On the other hand, it may well have a larger relevance and appeal than the target audience. I suspect that this could become a tool for any presenter, not just a scientist.
Worth keeping an eye on, it may become something very useful.

This podcast is a huge favorite of my wife and I. We really enjoy hearing Foxfire and Arrowind discussing their perspective as pagans and parents. While not a parenting centric show, their perspective of the pagan experience, spirituality and how they integrate it into their family and personal lives speaks strongly to me and my family. Pagan Parents on the Edge is one of those podcasts that always puts a smile on my face when I see a new episode is downloading. Keep it up Foxfire and Arrowind. We love your show.

First of all, kudos to the girls for being nerds and proud of it. It restores my confidence in youth today.
The show itself is a conversation between two or more girls in fandom. There is not a lot of emphasis on post-production, sound quality, or editing, it's very much a 'get it out there' effort, with a few songs thrown in. It's apparently recorded in one or another of their homes, without their parents knowledge. (This, by the way, is why I demoted the rating from a 5 to a 4. There's nothing wrong with recording a podcast or putting it online, but hiding online activities of any sorts from a teens parents puts the whole family at risk of unnecessary drama. If the show runs long enough girls your parents will eventually hear about it... Less trouble all around if they hear it from you fist).
[Full disclosure - this is from the PoV of a parent who thinks that teaching kids about internet safety is better than trying to keep them off the internet.]
Back to the content of the show. It focuses on Potter and Twilight, with promises of 'whatever we're reading at the moment' being thrown in. I hope that they find some of the more obscure fantasy literature out there, good and not so good, to discuss. [This one is not so much as a parent as from a former teen-nerd; there's a LOT of good stuff out there which will never hit the mega sales category].
Although the breadth of nerddom is not as wide as I would like it, the depth is admirable. The girl obviously pay close attention to the source material, and discuss and debate what is cut out of the books to be put into the movies, and why, and what choices would be better. Geek points aplenty.
[Not that I expect the girls to care what an old woman like me thinks of the show, but good'on'ya anyway!]

An educational podcast about pregnancy issues. This show covers medical aspects of pregnancy and childbirth. Recent shows discuss current scientific research about pregnancy risks and discussions of feminist views on childbirth.
I was personally dismayed by the titling of an episode "Are Feminists Finally Catching on that Birth is a Relevant Women's Issue". - I was introduced to it as a feminist issue before I was pregnant with my first child - over 15 years ago. Then again, the podcaster 'never considered herself a feminist in the traditional sense', and I had the impression that she had no idea what being a feminist meant.

A very nice, positivistic/inspirational podcast. The language has slight 'new age' overtones, which might or might not veer into the overtly religious. The podcast claims that it can give you 'unlimited success'. The program is 'free for the first 30 days' with no mention of what happens after that. There is apparently a lot of free content as well.
I don't think that cynics like myself are the target audience, but if it sounds like something you might be interested in, go for it. It's not my thing, but it doesn't sound like an obvious scam either.
Sound quality is indifferent, but the music is not bad.

This is an interview podcast, with no frills and no bells and whistles. There is a slightly echoing quality, which is distracting at first.
On the other hand, the quality of the interviews is very good. The interview with Nedeem Aslam, in particular, was hard for me to listen to because about five minutes in I wanted to turn the podcast in and start writing myself. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants insight to the writing process, or who wants to find new reading material.

I can't decide whether to be amused or annoyed at this podcast. It's a massive performance for a website which has as its stated goal to get 1,000,000 viewers by February 14th.
The website itself has remarkably little content, and what's there is fairly generic positive sentiments and cute pictures. It's a promotion for a (self help program? cult? book? movie?) "Pay it forward".
The website claims that if it gets its one million hits it will change the world in some unspecified positive way on valentines day... I think I might want to update my anti virus program, but the less cynical (or more easily amused) of you may want to check it out.

The podcast is sponsored by a probiotic diet system, but it's an up front association, so something to be aware of. Most of the episodes seem to be focused on diet and nutrition, so expect a sponsor bias.
Recent shows interview a psychiatrist about vitamin D deficiency and its effect on the heart. A highly published certified naturopath talking about how a dietary book which highlights a 'miracle fiber'. An authority on evidenced based dietary supplements who represents a fish oil manufacturer...
I would find this podcast more personally useful if it featured interviews with individuals who were not economically involved with the 'miracle cures' - with one exception the 'experts' mentioned above had a conflict of interest which makes them less useful as an information source. The exception was a medical expert speaking very much out of his field. Although there may be good information in some of the episodes, I think it would be hard for an uneducated listener to be certain what's fact and what's bias.
From what I heard, I'd have to say it's a series of informercials, and should be though of as such.

Seamus Jocum, the writer of 'Sex Percussions' webcomic hosts this podcast. He's very knowledgable and interested in the field. At one point he mentions a two episode per week schedule, which is tremendously ambitious for such a long podcast, and he can be forgiven for not managing to hit the mark.
Sound quality is not the best, there doesn't seem to be much post production at all. On the other hand, the music selection is eclectic and good.

The Fox is a moving story of love and history, a journey worth stepping into. It takes you on a journey through the past and present- linking those words together. This tale takes your breath away and pulls on your heart strings. It is full of treasures about life that will leave a mark on your heart to take with you as you live. Tears fell from my eyes as I listened to this story, but my heart soared with hope in those moments with how strong human courage can be. The characters are strong brave people who teach you lessons of strength, love, and belief in faith and yourself. If this podcast were in book form my papers would be filled with highlighted sections of gems of words to carry with me where I go. My journey with this book has not come to an end, and each time an episode ends I cannot wait till the next one comes out. I can not wait to find out what will happen to these characters who have captured my heart. Please take a moment to download the first episode of this story and give it a chance. I do not think you will be disappointed.
PS- Check out the music by Steve McDonald at the end of the espoides as well, it is great, and adds an extra level of emotion to the story, I have bought one of the singers CD’s and I have not been disappointed with it- the music is a mix of wonderful harmony, good music, and a sense of peace within the soul.

The GodBox Café is an fabulous podcast. The content is varied, the guests are fascinating and you’ll not likely find shows like these elsewhere on the web. I am thrilled to have access to the GodBox Café. Tamurile, the podhost, is a sensitive, marvellous interviewer. With insightful comments she expertly draws her guests to share their experiences and information. It’s definitely an interesting and comfy place to be for the listener.
The show’s motto, “Where the Earth meets the Sky” aptly sums up the effort made to solidly ground otherworldly topics in current research. And the broad range of topics is reflected in the image on the homepage: a man speaks on a cell phone, seemingly arguing, while behind him golden angels try to get his attention for something we know must be important. The pull between the mundane, material aspects of our lives that are juxtaposed with our aspirations to something greater is something we can all identify with, and those angels are given a huge helping hand by this podcast. There are Mystical musings –Tamurile’s ingenious and artful montage of music and literature around interesting themes– there’s Science and Spirituality –juicy stuff for those looking for new information to fuel a paradigm shift– and Art and Authors --truly a treat to hear how an author or artist came to create her work. All are informative, empowering and liberating; each one a jewel in the hand, bringing another piece to the puzzle and opening up a much-needed space for a new way of thinking.

What makes Paul Barrie's Window to the Magic Podcast so unique is his binaural recordings of the parks and attractions within the Disney empire. Even though I live very close to Disneyland, I don't have the opportunity to go as often as I used to or would like. This podcast definitely fills that void. The seasoned Disneyland visitor will be able to recreate the park in their minds as the music and atmosphere changes.
Patrick Hurd's shows are a treat as well. His vast collection of long gone Disney audio and his knack for Disney trivia provide lots of information that even the most hardcore Disney fan might not be aware of!
All in all, it's definitely my favorite Disneyland podcast. Two enthusiastic Mickey thumbs WAY UP!

Phil weaves a tale of darkness with a spacy backdrop. Creepy scenes with death and their mystical causes keep every episode satisfied with its share of suspense and wonder.
Kendall is well portrayed as an archetype villain complete with vice and a penchant for causing the suffering of others.
Gerard (sp?), is well put for the center of the story with his sensible reactions and stable mindset, however, the 3rd person narration transfers well for the other good characters.
The author's style of reading leaves me a bit numb, however. The pace seems slow and stilted. Annunciative style is a plus, but each line is read as if it were a movie trailer introduction.
I loved the sound effects, as they were ample and appropriate.
Not quite hard science fiction, but thoroughly entertaining.

The best audio fantasy I've yet found. A compelling story with characters of depth and two (so far) well-wrought worlds. It doesn't hurt that the voice and production work are professional quality. Disappointment is impossible.

I love this show. I don't always agree with Dani, but she always keeps an open mind. The same can not be said for many of the "professionals" who do political shows. I consider myself a moderate, and there are somethings I agree with her on, and other things I don't.
Dani doesn't claim to have a corner on the truth. She only claims to be seeking it.
Truth Seekers raises the level of debate, something which has been sorely missing in political discourse.

Dani Cutler's Truth Seekers Podcast is truly a treat to both listen to and participate in. We live in a society where 'debates' are little more than useless 60 second sound bites, where disagreements devolve into petty name calling and personal attacks. There are very few forums which promote an open forum for verbal and written discussion, were both sides of any given issue are TRULY welcome, and opinions are respected, even though they may not be agreed with. This show is what policy and political debate really ought to be.

This is my favorite podcast. I was a fan of Harry Potter before, but this podcast made me into a hardcore fan. I love listening to the theories and discussion of all things related to Harry Potter. The hosts are all high school to college age and do a really wonderful job of creating an all-around great show with rotating segments, in depth review and discussion and lots of laughs. If you only listen to one podcast, and you like Harry Potter, listen to this one!

I love the concept of people playing a fantasy role-playing game being put inside the game as their characters. If like fantasy stories like that too, then I recommend giving this a listen.

Take a story that blends the fairy world with the human world and you create a tale that has just the right mixture of magic and fun. Add in a young William Shakespeare and a touch of history and you have a very creative unique story. The best part of this tale is the wit and humor of the tricker Puck, who keeps you captivated as you listen to the wonderful woven adventure. Take the adventure into this tale with magic and fun. Along the way learn a little bit about WIlliam Shakespeare and what his young life may been like.

Horror has not been my bag, but this podcast is making it increasingly appealing. Having enjoyed the recent episodes, I just finished bulldozing my way through all the back episodes, and am quite pleased to see the positive evolution the show has gone through. The semi-recent addition of Alasdair Stewart as the host was a great move. Perhaps English listeners would be less impressed, but to an American ear, there's something a little spookier about an English accent, even when he's not trying to be. In general, just a great fit personality-wise, and the stories being brought out have been steadily increasing in quality. Or, I've been increasingly indoctrinated. Whatever they're doing, it's working. I would give this a 5 except that horror is still not entirely my thing. I think if you are a horror fan, though... you couldn't go wrong here.

Great SF stories and a really nice sense of community owing in no small part to Steve Eley's humble, thoughtful and inviting personality. His intro's and outtro's add a definite Escape Pod flavor to what would otherwise just be a quality collection of short audio SF. There are other SF podcasts with higher production values, and Steve does women's voices horribly... but it's almost part of the charm. His editorial choices are almost always excellent.

Can't stand listening to Jeva or anyone from this crew drone on about any subject! They are very close minded against any Pagan besides Wiccans. I should have NEVER listened to their pod casts knowing how they treat non Wiccan Pagans in the area we all live in. If your not Wiccan your not important to them. If you don't take their classes you can't be apart of thier organization! I feel bad for those of us in the area that have to tolerate this crew of podcasters and their church organzation for being our "voice".

I find it difficult to write a good review of this podcast as I could find very little good to say about Truth Seekers podcast. I have been listening since the start of the new year which translates into seven episodes.
My first gripe with the Truth Seekers podcast is that the content is poorly researched. Many of the "truths" quoted by this podcaster are not true at all. The host uses very selective research (ie: if four out of five economists believe we are not in a recession she will find a quote from that fifth economist to prove her point) and when called out will neither accept that she made a mistake nor admit her documentation is faulty.
Another gripe is what she does and does not bring to the table. The host is quick to bring to the table what is wrong with the world and what you, me, or someone other than her can do to fix it. Despite this being a common trait in upper middle class white stay at home moms like the host it is not at all appealing in a podcast which claims to be about "The search for the truth about..." I've been listening to this podcast for a bit more than three months and other than turning off her lights one time for one hour in the evening I have not heard her mention a single thing she has done to help correct the multitude of problems she sees in this country.
Over all I give this a one out of five pickle grade. Someone let me know if things change. I'm going to unsubscribe now. Buh-bye Dani. Buh-bye.

I never had the guts to try an open mic but I kept a notebook making notes of things I found funny for about three years from the time I about 17 and stopped when I lost it at 21 or so. Do you want to hear about what's going on Behind the Bricks at most comedy clubs? Yes, you do.
This is awesome! Brian's show attracts people with senses of humor and his forums gives them a place to hang out and just be cool.
Highly recommended!
